Pet Portrait Scribbles

Pet Portrait Scribbles

The most popular commission request is, without a doubt, pet portrait scribbles.

I discovered scribbling during a therapy session. The movement itself - loose, free, unstructured - encourages you to let go of perfection and reconnect with your child ego state. It’s a wonderfully therapeutic technique that brings relaxation, grounding, and a sense of playful freedom.

One of the things I love most is how simple it is. Scribbling can be done anywhere, with any pen. As part of my therapy, I now keep an A5 sketchpad and biro with me at all times. If I find myself with a quiet moment, I can scribble. If I need grounding, I can scribble. If everything around me feels chaotic, I can scribble. There’s no right or wrong way - just let the pen move, building texture through overlapping lines and instinctive strokes.

I naturally gravitated toward scribbling animals. My first piece was a portrait of my mum’s dog for Mother’s Day. Then came a rhino, my favourite animal, and an elephant created in memory of Queen Elizabeth II. Both of these are now available as prints in my shop.

From there, the commission requests began. While dogs are the most common, I’ve also scribbled horses, cats, pigs, otters, cows, pigs, a hamster and even a few mythical creatures. Scribble portraits are available in A4 or A3, and I can place multiple animals side-by-side if requested.

I work from high quality reference photos, ideally taken in good lighting with the animal either looking straight at the camera or as a side profile. As with all my commissions, I’ll send you a photo of the finished piece for approval before posting.
